The course is aimed at teaching a method to cope with sprawl in contemporary urban sites and landscape, as well as with confusion in architectural design approach, by using composition and architectural design to find an answer to these theoretical and practical troubles. The method is based on the recognition of the importance of architectural heritage dealing with contemporary needs and expressions.

Learning Objectives
The workshop's aims concerning the development of knowledge and tools to develop the degree dissertation, the definition of a theme and a project area.
The works that will be developed in the degree dissertation should have original characters and deal with problems paradigmatic for the contemporary architectural debate, both in terms of functionals models, aspects of the settlement, the definition of conceptual cores, always having the objective of develop the ability to deal with degradation of places and landscapes.
Prerequisites
The requirement to sustain the final test is having sustained all the exams, except at most four.
To have sustained all workshops' exam, to have acquired the tools of architectural composition, knowledge of building types, drawing skills, knowledge of the history of contemporary architecture.
Teaching Methods
After an initial assessment interview designed to evaluate compliance with the prerequisites and adequate preparation of students, they will be divided into seminar groups lead by teachers and their collaborators, to start the different lines of research and training in a methods indicated by each teacher.
Type of Assessment
The individual test includes at least the definition of thesis' theme, the places of sperimentation design, critical bibliography and program development of research's work of the degree's thesis.
