The "knowledge" of the places as a premise of dialectical continuity in the intervention contexts, the "theme" of the ideation as transmissibility subject of communicative content of the landscape stratification process, the disciplinary "lexicon" as the necessary linguistic choice of the individual expressiveness and collective of a common doing, they become the fundamental stages of a design process of exploration of a "latency" to which to give the evidence and the substance of architecture.

Learning Objectives - Part A
The course aims to train the incoming student in line with the professional figure that you want to outline within the Degree in Architecture Sciences, ie that which possesses the conceptual and operational control of the methods and tools of base needed to operate in the field of design, conducted at different scales, in the areas of architecture, construction and territory.
Therefore, the knowledge of the design tools must be provided, capable of leading to the necessary synthesis the propensities and dynamics of the places, as material for the construction of a possible transformative intervention strategy: the management to identify compositional methods with awareness, able to give concreteness and practicality to spatial and formal intuitions, through a graduality and a concatenation of operative experiences, between the expression of subjectivity and the necessary objectivity of building.
Prerequisites - Part A
During the course the general principles that govern the correct constitution of the architectural organism, ie the elements that contribute to the composition of the urban form, are treated. At the end of the course the student must be able to: carry out the project of a non-complex architectural organism, developing it at different scales of representation, checking the relationship between the forms, techniques, materials and functional program, at different scales, the space of relationship between buildings in relation to the context of belonging.
Teaching Methods - Part A
The teaching experience of the laboratory consists of theoretical communications and the elaboration-translation of individual projects, followed by weekly individual reviews. Some cadenced occasions, with exposure and collective discussion, will mark the verification of the maturation of the works, as a choral experience of exchange and exercise of communication and comparison of their project proposals.
These intermediate deadlines are also mandatory for the assessment of the personal teaching progress within the teaching program, so that the non-fulfillment may affect the possibility of regular attendance of the course and admission to the final exam. Lessons-debate and theoretical communications will accompany the development of the course in its phases, and will be held by the teachers themselves, by the experts of the subject and by external guests. Communications will be supported mainly with exposure of examples of realizations, with similar problems to those assigned and not only, with linguistic indications useful for the formation of a personal critical framework of specific reference, for the formulation of a design concept.
Further information - Part A
The themes dealt with as a design exercise within the Laboratory concern the design of new schools and schools, according to recent guidelines that see a significant opening to the territory and its society. Any new intervention, reconstruction or settlement, will therefore have to be an interpreter of the urban and geographic reality in which it is located, combining the scholastic functioning with the urban and territorial one. The designs must seek environmental continuity within the themes proposed by the different local realities, through the manipulation of the elements that make up the discipline. The comparison with the design practice of the architectural construction will have to complete the course of compositional-design maturation of the three-year Degree Course.
Type of Assessment - Part A
In the final exam the evaluation will be formed demonstrating the ability to conceive and communicate, to represent fully and congruently, with effective return, the architectural solutions proposed according to the conceptual, compositional, technological and figurative aspects chosen, also referring to the contents of the lessons of the Laboratory. The evaluation of each phase will contribute to the final judgment.
