The laboratory aims to define and carry out a contextualised architecture project
working so that the student manages to critically define the different planning stages
with sufficient degrees of specialisation, attempting to establish the correct relations
among distribu-tive-functional organisation, technical building and installations
requirements and formal conception and relations with the context.
The six-month exercise consists in the elaboration of an architecture project.

The contents of the workshop are geared to provide information necessary to reflect the character of italian architecture from the review of a group of works made by some masters of contemporary architecture. The references of long duration, and the peculiar characteristics which have always assumed founding, and at the same time fertile ground for the development of Italian Architecture, are the subject of investigation of this series of lectures.

Within the contemporaneity of Italian architectural culture, a necessary reflection on what can be defined as the usefulness of thought and action, which should characterize the motivations and the modus operandi of Architecture, is evident.
Our country has for years shown a systematic structural drama of its buildings that has been abandoned by entire systems inhabited by economic and social instability and their building inadequacy in responding effectively to the minimum security conditions.
Despite the daily evidence of all this, it seems that in the cultural sphere, the mainstream, that plasmas and directs the thought and popular sensitivity this condition is marginal compared to others, when it should be substantial.
For this reason, the research work that is being developed every year during the design will focus on identifying knots and possible solutions to some of these emergencies by using the city of Urbino as a body of investigation.
Urbino, a central city in the architectural panorama of the last five centuries, is distinguished by peculiar historical and social features that have shaped the forma urbis according to different cultural, social and architectural goals. From the Francesco di Giorgio's ducal architectures to the social ones of De Carlo Urbino seems to sum up in his story a sensitivity above the cultural dynamics emerging in the national landscape. For this reason, in addition to measuring with such authoritative and well-known comparative terms, research will lead to the analysis and recognition of the heterogeneous traits of the turbine, as far as possible through further possible events.
The laboratory, which will be developed jointly with the one of the same year coordinated by Prof. Sara Marini at the IUAV of Venice, will have as project theme some "solution architectures" regarding emerging issues in Urbino pattern in order to constitute a possible decalogue, useful to suggest at least the ways for a necessary social and urban renewal of the city.

The contents of the workshop are geared to provide information necessary to reflect the character of italian architecture from the review of a group of works made by some masters of contemporary architecture. The references of long duration, and the peculiar characteristics which have always assumed founding, and at the same time fertile ground for the development of Italian Architecture, are the subject of investigation
of this series of lectures. In a season in which technology fibrillation, proposes the variability of languages as constitutive theme of contemporary architecture, it is necessary to consider if under this crust uniform and indistinct of hybridizations lexical, are still recognizable as the chief distinguishing features of various specific conditions, which by always characterize the specificity of italian architecture in the international context.
