Intrenship in Italy

Before starting the internship, the trainee must complete the Workplace Safety Training Course – Medium Risk (4 hours of General Training + 12 hours of Specific Training), in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008.

The curricular internship complements academic training through a period of practical application and direct experience at organizations external to the University. These may include professional offices, companies, production facilities, DidaLabs laboratories, or public and private institutions, where the student will be engaged for a limited period in activities related to the work carried out by the host organization.

Host organizations must have an agreement with the University to ensure insurance coverage for trainees.

To establish the agreement for curricular internships, the host organization must follow the designated procedure.

If the Degree Programme recognizes ECTS credits through equivalency (equipollenza), it is not possible to undertake the internship through the traditional procedure. The two options cannot be combined.

For graduating students, the final internship documents must be submitted to the Internship Office before the deadline indicated in the appendix of the Academic Calendar to allow the internship to be officially recorded in the student's academic career.

Steps for Completing the Internship Required by the Degree Programmes

Find a Company, Professional Office, or Laboratory

Choose the company, professional office, or laboratory where you wish to complete your internship:

If you cannot find the desired company or professional office, it must first establish an agreement with the University (procedure carried out by the host organization).

Company–Student Matching

Once the student has found an approved Company/Professional Office, they must send a request for Student–Company Matching from their institutional email address (name.surname@edu.unifi.it) to the Internship Office of their relevant campus (see the left-side menu), including the following information:

  • First and Last Name
  • Student ID number
  • Degree Programme
  • Full name of the Company/Professional Office/DidaLabs Laboratory

The Internship Office will reply with a confirmation email after matching the student with the host organization. From that moment, the student will be able to complete the Draft Internship Project.
