1) When can I submit my Study Plan?
The year of the Degree Programme from which students are allowed to submit their Study Plan is indicated in “Table 2”, available on the following page: https://www.architettura.unifi.it/vp-198-piani-di-studio.html
The Study Plan may be submitted only once per academic year.
2) Where can I check the Study Plan submission period?
There are two submission periods for online Study Plans, paper Study Plans, or paper requests for changes to a Study Plan (for students who are not eligible to use the online service).
The submission periods can be checked on the following page:
https://www.architettura.unifi.it/vp-198-piani-di-studio.html
3) Who can submit a Study Plan online?
Students belonging to the enrolment cohorts (a cohort means the first year of enrolment for Bachelor's Degree Programmes and the first year of enrolment for Master's Degree Programmes) indicated in “Table 1”, available on the following page, may submit their Study Plan online: https://www.architettura.unifi.it/vp-198-piani-di-studio.html
4) Which students are excluded from the online Study Plan submission service?
The following students are excluded from the online Study Plan submission service (but may submit a Study Plan or a request for changes in paper form):
5) If I have an approved individual Study Plan that has not been cancelled, I belong to an enrolment cohort for which the online submission service is available, and I need to submit a new Study Plan, what should I do?
If you have an approved individual Study Plan that has not been cancelled, belong to an enrolment cohort for which the online submission service is available, have not changed Degree Programme, transferred, or received recognition of previous studies, and need to submit a new Study Plan, you may submit a new Study Plan online independently, without any action being required from the administrative offices, including during the same online Study Plan submission period.
6) How many free-choice ECTS credits must I include in my Study Plan?
Students must include a sufficient number of examinations to cover the required number of free-choice ECTS credits, whether the Study Plan is submitted online or in paper form.
The total number of free-choice ECTS credits may exceed the required amount by a maximum of 6 ECTS credits.
The grade average will be calculated on the total number of ECTS credits obtained.
Please note that Thematic Seminars are assessed on a pass/fail basis and therefore do not contribute to the calculation of the grade average.
7) Which students must submit a Study Plan or a request for changes in paper form?
A Study Plan or request for changes must be submitted in paper form by students who:
8) Which academic year should I indicate when completing a paper Study Plan?
If you expect to graduate by April, you must indicate the academic year preceding the current one. If you expect to graduate from July onwards, you must indicate the current academic year. The academic year corresponding to each graduation session can be checked in the annex to the Academic Calendar: https://www.architettura.unifi.it/vp-152-calendario-didattico-e-orario.html
9) In which cases may I submit a Study Plan or a request for changes (if I have already submitted a Study Plan) outside the regular submission period?
You may submit a Study Plan or a request for changes to a Study Plan outside the regular submission period in cases of necessity and urgency (students about to graduate, Erasmus students, scholarship requirements, etc.), subject to payment of the stamp duty where applicable (in the case of a request for changes).
If you are about to graduate, you must check the deadlines indicated in the annex to the Academic Calendar.
10) How should a paper Study Plan or a paper request for changes be submitted?
Paper forms must be sent in PDF format exclusively according to the instructions provided here, specifying the following in the subject line: surname, first name, student ID number, Degree Programme code, enrolment cohort.
11) Who is responsible for assessing Study Plans?
The person responsible for assessing Study Plans submitted online, as well as Study Plans and requests for changes submitted in paper form, is the faculty member appointed by the Degree Programme. The faculty member assesses the Study Plans in accordance with the Degree Programme Regulations and within the permitted margins of choice and autonomy (Art. 17, paragraph 3, University Academic Regulations – RDA).
The names of the faculty members responsible are indicated in “Table 1”, available on the following page: https://www.architettura.unifi.it/vp-198-piani-di-studio.html
Study Plans and requests for changes submitted in paper form and received by the School offices are forwarded to the faculty member responsible for assessment. Once approved, they are sent to the Student Administration Office for registration. No notification is sent to the student, who may check whether the update has been completed by consulting their academic record. Academic records are updated manually and this may take several days.
12) If I am enrolled beyond the normal duration of the Degree Programme, which year should I indicate on the paper form?
If I am enrolled in a three-year Bachelor's Degree Programme, I must indicate “3rd year f.c.”
If I am enrolled in a two-year Master's Degree Programme, I must indicate “2nd year f.c.”
If I am enrolled in a five-year single-cycle Master's Degree Programme, I must indicate “5th year f.c.”
13) If I intend to graduate by April, need to submit a Study Plan or a request for changes to my Study Plan, and still have to take one or more free-choice examinations, may I include in my Study Plan codes for learning activities offered in the current academic year?
Yes, ONLY if those learning activities were also offered in the previous academic year, i.e. in the academic year corresponding to the graduation session.
Students about to graduate must have all examinations duly recorded in their academic record within the academic year of graduation. Particular attention must therefore be paid to the session to which the examination date belongs. Learning activities must consequently refer to activities delivered within the same academic year as the graduation session. Courses delivered in the current academic year cannot be included if they were not also offered in the academic year corresponding to the graduation session.
14) Which codes must not be included in the Study Plan as free-choice activities?
Codes relating to internships, supplementary courses, and examinations belonging to the language group must not be included. Any exceptions are indicated by the relevant Degree Programme on its Study Plan webpage.
15) How can I find free-choice examinations to include in my Study Plan?
To find examinations belonging to Degree Programmes offered by the School of Architecture, consult the “Course Catalogue” page: https://www.architettura.unifi.it/vp-241-offerta-formativa.html
To find examinations belonging to Degree Programmes offered by other Schools, consult the Course Catalogue of the other Schools of the University: https://www.unifi.it/vp-9333-scuole.html
To check the Thematic Seminars offered by the School of Architecture, consult the following page: https://www.architettura.unifi.it/vp-201-seminari-tematici.html
Please note:
Example: two seminars with the generic 6-ECTS code “B020765 Approfondimento: Seminario Tematico di Architettura” cannot both be included.
16) Can credits be recognised as free-choice credits following participation in a workshop, competition, or seminar that is not included in the Course Catalogue?
The recognition of ECTS credits is handled by the Degree Programmes (by the Degree Programme Teaching Committees or by the Degree Programme Council). In the Degree Programmes of the School of Architecture, no credit recognition is provided for, except within the framework of internships, and only for certain Degree Programmes.
Students should check the Degree Programme Regulations applicable to their cohort to determine whether this option is available. This information is usually provided in the article entitled Methods for assessing other required competences and the outcomes of placements and internships. However, once the Regulations have been opened, it is advisable to search using the keyword “recognition”.
17) What information should I provide in the field “Declaration explaining the reason for submitting the Study Plan or request for changes in paper form” on the Study Plan or request for changes form?
If you belong to an enrolment cohort excluded from the online service, you must state that online submission is not available for your enrolment cohort. You should also indicate your graduation session if you expect to graduate in a session taking place shortly after the Study Plan submission period.
If the Study Plan or request for changes is submitted outside the regular submission period, you must indicate the reason for urgency (student about to graduate, Erasmus, scholarship requirements, etc.).
18) What information should I enter in the “Notes” field of the online Study Plan?
The Notes field should be used to explain and justify to the faculty member responsible for assessing Study Plans one or more choices made during submission, whenever those choices fall outside the Study Plan rules established by the individual Degree Programmes and indicated on the specific Degree Programme Study Plan webpages (for example https://www.scienzearchitettura.unifi.it/vp-127-piano-di-studio.html).
All information is available in the University's video tutorial on the following webpage: https://www.unifi.it/it/studia-con-noi/accesso-e-iscrizioni/faq-come-fare/piano-di-studi
19) IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS APPROACHING GRADUATION
The academic year ends in April of the following year. Students about to graduate must have all examinations duly recorded in their academic record within the academic year of graduation. Particular attention must be paid to the session to which the examination date belongs. Learning activities must therefore refer to activities delivered within the same academic year as the graduation session. Example:
Graduation by April 2025. The relevant academic year is 2023/2024. The 2023/2024 academic year ends in April 2025. All learning activities included in the student's academic record must have been scheduled and delivered in the 2023/2024 academic year. Courses delivered in the 2024/2025 academic year cannot be included. All examinations must be taken with a session no later than 2023 and must be completed and recorded in the academic record by the examination sessions indicated in the annex to the Academic Calendar (no later than March 2025).
IF YOU NEED TO TAKE EXAMINATIONS DURING THE WINTER SESSION AND EXPECT TO GRADUATE IN APRIL, in December you must send an email to esami@architettura.unifi.it, indicating your first name, surname, student ID number, Degree Programme, name and code of the examination to be taken, and requesting that a specific examination date be scheduled for students about to graduate, with a session belonging exclusively to the academic year of graduation.
