If you want to add an international dimension to your educational path by spending a study period abroad, the University of Florence is pleased to welcome you.


The School of Architecture participates in many exchange programs, giving students from all over the world the opportunity to follow part of their educational program in Florence within the framework of Erasmus+ and the cultural and scientific Cooperation Agreements.

The International Relations Office of the School of Architecture provides information and assistance to all students participating in these study abroad programs and to whom the following sections are addressed.

Courses and academic calendar

The School of Architecture in Florence offers a wide range of degree programs: 3 bachelor's programs, 6 master's programs and one 5 years’ degree course. Be aware that each course degree has its website

 

Below you will find access to the course catalogue, divided by degree programme. To consult the course offerings from previous years, please follow the tutorials at the end of the box.

Depending on the subject areas, the academic offer is taught in three campuses, which are located in Florence (Architecture and Landscape Architecture), Calenzano (Design) and Prato (Urban Planning). Exchange students are allowed to take courses offered on any campus at any level of study, with the agreement of their home institution. 

 

All of the degree programs are carried out in Italian, except for the International Curriculum in Architectural Design (ICAD) and Urban and Regional Planning and Design (Curriculum: "Urban and Regional Planning and Design") Master program which is entirely taught in English.

 

Some of the thematic seminars are taught in English as well, but please note that all thematic seminars do not release a final mark (only a “passed or failed evaluation”).

Notes

 

Language Requirements

All incoming students need to apply with:

  • Certified B1 level of Italian mandatory to attend courses held in Italian;
    AND/OR
  • Certified B2 English mandatory to attend courses held in English

 

PLEASE NOTE that English taught courses are ONLY

These courses cannot grant acceptance to all incoming students, so that they very often have to switch to Italian classes; therefore we strongly recommend the knowledge of the Italian language for EVERYONE.

 

Once in Florence, exchange students can attend an Italian language course for free at Centro Linguistico di Ateneo - CLARegistration is required.

 

Please note that the Italian Language Course is not an academic exam and it does not provide ECTS credits or marks, so it cannot be added to your Learning Agreement and it will not be certified in your final official Transcript of Records.

How to apply for the mobility

 

Step 1 - Nomination from Partner Universities

The home institution of students selected within the framework of the ERASMUS+ program or the Cooperation agreement must send an official nomination by email to archint@unifi.it within the following deadlines:

  • 1st semester/full year - May 31st
  • 2nd semester - October 31th

 

Step 2 - Application from nominated Students

Once the nomination is received, the International Relation office of the School of Architecture will contact the student by email, providing instructions and forms for the application. The student must apply within the following deadlines:

  • 1st semester/full year - June 30th
  • 2nd semester - November 30th

It will be necessary to send the following document:

Before the mobility

The student will be required to complete the Learning Agreement before mobility and have it approved both by UNIFI and by their home institution, in order to identify the courses to be attended and the exams to be recognized upon return from the mobility period.

Please note that the language of instruction of each course must be taken into account when drafting the Learning Agreement.

Also, keep in mind that some courses may have a limited number of available places, and the International Relations Office in Florence may therefore consider it necessary to request modifications to the Learning Agreement.

Below are the forms for the completion of the Learning Agreement:

During the mobility: change or extensions

Exchange students can change the subjects listed in their Learning Agreement Before the Mobility once per semester within the following deadlines:

  • 1st semester/full year - November 15th
  • 2nd semester - April 15th

Exchange students who wish to modify their Learning Agreement Before the Mobility must send a request, signed and sealed from the home institution, by email to archint@unifi.it.

Below are the forms for the changing of the Learning Agreement:

 

Exchange students can also ask for an extension of their mobility period no later than one month before the end of their mobility. The mobility can be up to 12 months in total and it cannot exceed September 30th.
Exchange students who wish to extend their mobility period must send a request, signed and sealed from the home institution, by email to archint@unifi.it
