The Extra-European mobility program allows students who have won the annual university call to spend a period at a university with which the School of Architecture has an active bilateral agreement for cultural and scientific collaboration.
By benefiting from a financial contribution, the student on mobility can attend courses at the host university, take exams, and/or carry out thesis research activities. The status of a student in Extra-European mobility ensures exemption from paying tuition fees at the foreign institution and the recognition, upon returning to Italy, of the academic activities completed, subject to approval by the competent bodies of the School.
The University of Florence has activated over 100 agreements with European and non-European universities through its School of Architecture.
EXTRA-EU DESTINATIONS
(to consult the list, select Mobilità internazionale-Paesi ExtraUE and Scuola di Architettura)
This section lists the destinations, organized by country, where Architecture students can undertake mobility. For each location, the website, the language requirements of each foreign institution, and the ISCED code (the discipline to which the foreign institution’s educational offer belongs, e.g., ARCHITECTURE) are provided.
Students are strongly encouraged to check the website of the host institution before applying to the call for applications, in order to verify that:
The Extra-European Mobility Selection Call is published annually on the university website, typically between January and February.
The call provides the necessary admission requirements, participation instructions, the deadline for submitting the application, and the list of partner foreign institutions. Each partner university may require a specific minimum level of language proficiency. It is the candidate's responsibility to verify the required language requirements at the provided address. The application must be completed exclusively through the Turul application system.
Those who are selected as winners in the university ranking (on the Turul platform) will receive a notification from the International Relations Office of the School of Architecture, which will proceed with the nomination at the host institution.
The host institution may require an application procedure from the student, either online or through the submission of documents by email. The application procedures and deadlines are usually provided on the host institution’s website, which should be consulted in advance.
Once the acceptance letter has been obtained, the student will need to apply for a study visa.
The key requirement for an Erasmus student is the completion of the Learning Agreement.
The Learning Agreement outlines the study plan, including the activities the student intends to undertake abroad, as well as the corresponding courses at the home institution.
The Learning Agreement (LA) must be agreed upon with the Erasmus+ coordinator of the student's degree program and the coordinating professor of the agreement. Once completed, it should be sent to archint@architettura.unifi.it for the signature of the Erasmus coordinator, and then forwarded to the host institution for countersigning.
Before departure, students will receive a mobility contract from the Teaching Services Office. For information about scholarships or any additional financial contributions, please contact outgoing.extraue@unifi.it.
Upon arrival at the host institution, the student must have the Internationalization Office of the host institution sign the study period certificate and send it to outgoing.extraue@unifi.it within 15 days.
During the mobility period, it will be possible to modify the Learning Agreement by agreeing to the changes in advance with the Erasmus coordinator of your study program and the coordinating professor of the agreement. The Learning Agreement must be completed in the "During the mobility" section, and signed by the International Relations Office (archint@architettura.unifi.it), with your Erasmus coordinator and the host institution coordinator in CC.
During the mobility period, it is possible to request an extension of the stay by completing the following form. Please note that in case of an extension, the scholarship may not always be guaranteed.
Extension of the stay - domanda di prolungamento
Before returning from the mobility, you must request from the host institution:
Within 15 days of returning to Italy, send the study period certificate, including the exact dates of your completed mobility period, to the Servizi alla didattica Office outgoing.extraue@unifi.it
For the recognition of the academic activities completed during mobility, the student is required to submit the following to the International Relations Office – archint@unifi.it -, within the deadlines specified in the Call:
In case the student has also conducted a Thesis Research during the mobility, they will also be required to submit the Thesis Research Confirmation document, stamped by the host university and signed by the foreign professor supervising the research.
